Katharine McPhee isn’t happy with the state of the world today. In a recent Instagram story, the American Idol alum and actress went on a rant about an elderly man who was jumped in Los Angeles. She reposted a screenshot about someone’s brother getting mugged and beat up on Loma Vista Drive in Beverly Hills, allegedly because he was wearing expensive accessories.
“I blame every single one of you woke voters” — McPhee
“I blame every single one of you woke voters,” the singer said. “Seniors getting beat up while walking. Keep voting for this. What a sad state this city is in.”
Her post had the caption: “This is literally my worry and thought every time I go out now. We need @rickcarusola. What’s this world coming to?”
McPhee then shared how her friend Sara Mann advised her not to wear her Rolex while in public. The singer responded that she wouldn’t wear any rings or watches.
She used the opportunity to endorse Rick Caruso for mayor of Los Angeles.
“This is the real life text/convos you have with fam and friends about living in LA now,” she wrote. “We need @rickcarusola.”
McPhee rose to fame in 2006 while becoming American Idol’s runner-up in its fifth season.
The singer has been a stout Republican and GOP supporter, previously donating to the Trump campaign. She once spoke out against Stacey Abrams for appearing maskless with a group of children after advocating for mask mandates. “Politicians at their finest,” McPhee said.
The Smash actress also once received wide criticism for her political donations after claiming to support the LGBTQ+ community. She was accused of being hypocritical for bankrolling anti-LGBTQ+ causes while pandering to the same fanbase.
As for Rick Caruso, his stances can be read here. His mayoral platform is primarily promoting a tough-on-crime stance, with promises to end homelessness in LA and reduce gun violence.
