Desert Hills Middle School in Washington state is currently under investigation after a disturbing video featuring teachers and students participating in what was referred to as a “licking contest” went viral. The contest consisted of students and teachers sliding their tongues up and down plexiglass in order to lap up marshmallow cream. Some students and parents are horrified by the goings-on, calling the event “gross” and “highly sexualized.”

The video taken of the contest shows children and teachers racing with their tongues to see who can lick the plexiglass clean faster. The two participating individuals stand across from each other with the plexiglass in front of them, but it is still a bizarre sight to see.

Superintendent Traci Pierce released a statement on the strange matter, writing, “This activity does not reflect the high standards we hold for our staff members as outlined in district policy. The content of a video being shared on social media is highly concerning, and the situation is currently being investigated by the district.”
At one point during the contest, the glass almost fell over, showing that the plexiglass was not stable. Desert Hills Middle School Principal Casey Grant released a written apology for the incident that read, “I am committed to the safety of our students and staff and will ensure that all future activities meet the highest professional standards and adhere to district policy.”
Several parents of children who attend the middle school spoke out about the uncomfortable event. April Jordan spoke to KNDU, stating, “If you are just looking at it, not necessarily knowing what’s going on, to me it kind of reminds me of like a bachelorette party game.” While speaking to Fox News Digital, Megan Sa said, “In my opinion, we do not send our children to school to be exposed to highly sexualized behavior by adults. We send them to school to learn and for them to socialize with other people their ages. They shouldn’t have to sit in a gym for a school assembly and wonder ‘What is going on?’ Schools should be a safe place for children to go and this despicable display of adult behavior was hard to watch.”
