Jeff Bezos is being roasted—and we mean absolutely skewered—for reminiscing about his “first job” at McDonald’s. He posted a photo of himself eating a Big Mac with the caption “My first job. And still the same great burger. Happy Sunday!” No one wants to hear it.

Bezos has previously spoken about once working at McDonald’s. In Cody Teets’ 2012 book, Golden Opportunity: Remarkable Careers That Began at McDonald’s, he opened up about the experience.
“I was a grill man and never worked the cash registers,” Bezos told Teet. “The most challenging thing was keeping everything going at the right pace during a rush.”
Bezos praised his boss as well. “The manager at my McDonald’s was excellent,” he said. “He had a lot of teenagers working for him, and he kept us focused even while we had fun.”
The problem with Bezos trying to make himself more relatable by talking about working at McDonald’s is complex. Firstly, as one person pointed out on Twitter, “Jeff Bezos can end world hunger for 15 years and still be the 76th richest person on Earth.”
The world hunger point just about sums it up, but there’s more.
Let’s talk about Amazon’s working conditions. As of July 19 of this year, the feds were investigating their distribution centers. Workers have complained of unlivable wages, long hours that take physical tolls on their bodies, and walking 30-60 miles a day. One man was fired for speaking out about not being provided with personal protective equipment.
He also said that the turnover rate of 150% proves there is no job security at Amazon. “For every 10 people that they’re hiring, they’re firing 15.”
The Intercept reported that Amazon was aware that its drivers were peeing in bottles and defecating enroute.
Twitter comments about Bezos’ trip down blue-collar memory lane showed how fed-up people are with the billionaire.
“Things we have in common with Jeff Bezos: First job was at McDonalds; Having the world’s largest sock store; Owning a super-yacht.”
(Bezos does own a super-yacht and he’s been righteously roasted for his yacht antics).
“”I’m just like you! I eat at McDonald’s! I’m not hoarding the wealth created by Amazon workers! Please don’t eat me.”
“So why don’t you pay workers more than what people at McDonald’s earn then.”
“Wow this recession even got billionaires cutting back.”
